Disaster Supply Kit Checklist

  • Foods such as canned goods and non-perishable foods (which do not require cooking) or special dietary foods if required.
  • Drinking water in non-breakable, air tight containers. At least 2 quarts per person per day. Check or replace your water supply every two months to ensure its purity.
  • Identification, cash, valuable papers, insurance policies and photos in waterproof containers (or place valuable papers and policies in a safe deposit box).
  • Battery operated radio (all weather radio preferred).
  • Flashlights.
  • Masking and duct tape.
  • Waterproof matches.
  • Extra batteries for radio and flashlights.
  • Personal items such as soap, deodorant, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, aspirin, antacid, diapers, washcloth and towels.
  • Utensils: manual can opener, disposable plates, cups, plastic forks, knives, spoons and napkins.
  • Personal aid items such as eyeglasses, hearing aids, prosthetic devices and extra batteries.
  • First aid kit which includes: prescription medications, betadine solution, gauze bandages, adhesive tape, sterile pads, band aids, triangular bandages, safety scissors, non-prescription medication, sunscreen and insect repellent.
  • Sleeping bags or blankets, sheets and pillows.
  • Change of clothing, plus an extra pair of shoes.
  • Pet supplies (food, water, medications, carrier or other supplies).
  • Carrying container to store Disaster Supply Kit items.
