Duties:
The Underwriter Associate is responsible for timely review of renewal applications, endorsements, and miscellaneous documents. Evaluates and develops action plans for negative trends and large losses on accounts. Provides appropriate underwriting documentation for justification of securing and retention of accounts. Assists in managing assigned general agencies accounts and maintaining a positive producer relationship. Completes commercial multi-lines rating and data entry of policies. Provides clerical, rating, and data entry support; and solves practical problems in accordance with guidelines and procedures. All duties must be performed within underwriting guidelines and authority level.
Successful candidate possesses working knowledge in multi-line rating and underwriting and has strong communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to be analytical and precise is essential to this role. The ideal candidate also possesses strong mathematical skills, organizational skills, time management, and prioritization in their day-to-day work.
Requirements:
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; and College degree with credits in insurance related subjects preferred.
• 1 to 2 years commercial lines property and casualty or related experience required, including commercial lines rating and knowledge of manual rules and coverages; sales experience preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
• Continuing education in insurance and job-related issues and subjects required.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:
• Attainment of or working toward CPCU or other professional designation(s) preferred.
