Island Insurance Board of Directors Appoints Beverly Ament, President
Island Insurance Companies, the state’s largest locally owned and managed property and casualty insurance carrier, announced the promotion of Beverly “Bev” Ament to President. Ament first joined Island Insurance in 1988 and formerly served as Executive Vice President and Chief Underwriting Officer. She succeeds John Schapperle who will continue as Chief Executive Officer.
“Under Bev’s leadership, Island Insurance has experienced stellar results across both personal and commercial insurance areas,” said John Schapperle, Chief Executive Officer of Island Insurance. “Her many contributions have been instrumental to our recognition as one of the top 50 property and casualty insurers in the nation.”
Born and raised in Honolulu, she received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Northern Colorado and is a graduate of St. Andrew’s Priory. She serves on the board of directors of Palolo Chinese Home and is active in industry and business organizations including the Building Industry Association of Hawaii, Construction Financial Management Association, General Contractors Association, the Hawaii Surety Association and the National Association of Surety Bond Producers.
