Roadside Emergencies List

Keeping roadside emergency items in your car trunk can be a helpful quick-fix to get you on your way. Having a cell phone to call for help or contacting a tow service would be a definite item in your Roadside Emergency list, but what if you are stranded in an area with no cell coverage or service?

  • Keep the following in your trunk:
    • Flares, reflective day/night devices or warning triangles.
    • Fire Extinguisher
    • First Aid Kit
  • Jumper cables can help you (or someone else) in the event of a dead battery. Another option to charging a dead battery is a mini-battery that plugs into your cigarette lighter.
  • If you run into a flat-tire, make sure you carry a tire jack and spare tire and to check your spare tires inflation levels regularly.
  • Keep plastic sheets on hand for changing a tire in the rain or if you have to get under the vehicle to check something.
  • Carry an empty gasoline can in the event you run out of gas. Never carry a full gasoline canister, which can be very dangerous.
  • Keep a good flashlight (preferably waterproof) and batteries in your glove compartment.
  • Make sure you have the name, address and telephone number of someone to call in an emergency.
